Amazing beaches | Terrific Main Street | Rich History | Centrally Located
Historic Chatham is a seaside resort destination like no other. Cozy grey-shingled cottages, ice cream shops and friendly pubs sit beside exclusive hotels, stately sea captain homes, galleries and wonderful restaurants. The village has captured and preserved its character so beautifully, in fact, that it was awarded the
2007 Distinctive Destination Award by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
A year-round destination, Chatham presents old-fashioned band concerts, baseball games and great local theatre productions in spring and summer, while fall and winter are popular times for fireside dining, seal watching, biking and antiquing. Find out more here.
The ocean is a big draw throughout the year, and Chatham offers three totally distinct beach experiences: Lighthouse Beach right on the Atlantic Ocean (a short ten-minute walk from the Inn), beautiful Pleasant Bay Beach and Hardings Beach on Nantucket Sound.

Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge – choose from a variety of excursions that take you up close and personal to the flora and fauna on 2500-acre Monomoy Island. Watch seals bask in the sun or roseate terns and plovers feeding. You can view this stunning scenery by boat or disembark for a walking tour led by a naturalist. Don’t miss it.
Shopping/Antiquing – Chatham’s Main Street is a shopper’s delight. From Chatham Candy Manor to Blue Water Fish Rubbings to Mermaid’s on Main or Yankee Ingenuity, you’ll find something unique to remember your seaside vacation in Chatham.
Antique lovers are sure to enjoy the nautical treasures at shops in town. Don’t miss the 54th Annual Chatham Antiques Show.
Lighthouse Beach – Experience the barrier beach ‘wow’ factor as you watch the tides transform this gorgeous ever-changing beach. You can walk here from the Cranberry Inn.
Band Concerts - held every Friday night in the summer at Kate Gould Park on Main Street. The entire town shows up for these popular concerts to enjoy the free music and terrific people watching.
Chatham Fish Pier Observation Deck - Just down the road from the Chatham Light is the Chatham fish pier, where there’s always a small crowd gathered on the visitors deck (best viewing is between 12 noon and 3pm, when the fishing fleet is returning). Not only does the pier offer a great view of Chatham's harbor and outer beach with the Atlantic beyond, but when the fishing boats unload their catch, both children and adults get a fascinating glimpse of the Cape's best-known industry. It is truly a working pier and the observation deck provides great top-down views of the fishermen and their boats in action.
Whale Watch Excursion with The Dolphin Fleet (Ask about our discount coupon) - Dolphin Fleet originated whale-watching on the east coast. See whales at sea up close. It's an extraordinary and exhilarating adventure. You'll learn a lot too because the Dolphin Fleet has research scientists aboard to inform, educate and continue their data collection efforts. It's fun for all.
